Football is the base from which Food Of Champions was derived from. Flaminio Brenna was the man who thought of the simple concept. He was Italian and it was during the 2006 world cup that he came up with the idea. He was eating dinner with his grandson Sholton and just before kick off of one of Italy’s games he said "everybody wants to be a champion". Then looking at his plate of food his wife had just prepared, he added "but so long as you can eat a good healthy meal twice a day, you are already a champion".

Sadly Flaminio Brenna passed away 6 months later. He was very sick at the time, and his grandson Sholton, who was born and grew up in South Africa, was spending his last Italian summer in Italy with his grandfather. Sholton’s father Oscar had immigrated to South Africa from Italy in the 70’s and from the time he got to South Africa till today, he has been involved in the food and catering industry.

Today Oscar Brenna is the director of a Pasta Manufacturing Company, and his son Sholton works along side him. Oscar has two partners in the business, and whilst he teaches Sholton the trade, he also employs a staff count of over 90 people.

Sholton has carried out the concept of Food Of Champions on behalf of his grandfather’s wish, and being ever so curious on people’s outlook on food, soccer and sport in general, Sholton wants to see this brand come to life over a tournament hosted in South Africa.
